.....I sorely miss the small ob flash .I have a SB600 that works just fantastic with my D2H in auto and manual modes and a smaller Sunpak 144PC that is simply swell in manual flash mode but I want something even smaller to keep in my pocket for those times when I need a bit of light but not a full sized cumbersome blow torch.
Would the diminutive SB30 fit the bill ? It is only 3 oz,uses 1 cr123 battery, and from what I understand can fire remote flashes by IR.
Thanks,
John
I believe it will only work in Manual mode on your D2H, unless you have some backward compatibility that the D70 doesn't have. It's a nice small flash, but with limited range, no bounce, can not take diffusers.. pretty limited in its usability I would say. Beats the built-in flash by a mile though.
Thanks Mad Artist.
That`s really all I`m looking for, an to equal to the ob flash and if it`s a tad better then all the more good.
Manual flash isn`t a problem. I enjoy using manual flash and for the non critical uses that I`d use it for it will be just fine.
Actually I always preferred manual flash with my Canon`s but Nikon`s flash system is so darned good. For planned flash shooting I`d take the SB600.
I think they are becoming rare and maybe out of production. B&H don`t list them.
