p.1 #1 · Finalize a file before printing - advice?
Just wondering what steps you all go through before sending your file off to get printed.
Sharpening is the big question I am wondering about. But please list anything you do. I'm looking to print a photo for my hard copy portfolio soon and want it to be perfect as it can be.

Suggest you read the Guidelines posted at the beginning which covers much of your question. Yes, you need to sharpening of any digital photo, but normally the last thing after you have sized it, since the amount and style of sharpening depends on that size.
p.1 #3 · Finalize a file before printing - advice?
I'm no expert, but this is my process:
1. Make basic adjustments in Photoshop's RAW converter
2. Noise Ninja, if necessary.
3. Rotate if necessary, and crop
4. All other images adjustments such levels, color balance, saturation, etc.
5. Use SI Pro 2 to finalize the size and DPI
6. Use Focal Blade for sharpening
7. Print
This may be all wrong, but it works OK for me. Also, I usually save a tiff after step 4, so I can easily go back to the image if I decide later I want to print at a different size, without having to redo the initial steps. Of course, I also always keep the unaltered RAW file as well.
