p.1 #1 · New D200 nameplate image found on the net...

I found this just a few hours ago, so I signed up to share it. I wonder if it is the real D200.

Check out the image size...it's heavily compressed. 7.7 megabits. That could posterize it easily, making it look falsely photoshopped.

I also checked exif...there is none.

Finally, check out the typface of the "D200" logo. Then go the the United States Patent and Trademark Office (Google "USPTO"), click tradmarks, click search, and type in "D200". Click on the first link therein. The typface is IDENTICAL to the one here.

Also, remember that the Canon crowd thought the 5D photo was photoshopped as well. And that one had a much cleaner appearance due to an image size many times larger (i.e. very much less compression).

Now, I do really have a feeling this is the actual D200. My gut is usually very accurate at telling the future. But maybe it's so compressed and all that Nikon won't bother to remove it, as most would think it's photoshopped.

Please someone at least save a screenshot of it in case it disappears...if Nikon sees it and it is real, they will have it taken away soon.

It looks more real than the others...note the F6-like body. Import into PS, and view at a low magnification...then it starts to look really good.

My gut is usually very accurate at telling the future.

So is mine, when I feel bloated, it's only a matter of time before I start Far***g.

I'm not buying it, it looks very PS'ed.

Maybe that's where they got the style from.

Are we that bored that we need to start yet another, look at the new pictures of the D200 I found.

My 5 year old could make a better fake then this.

Wow, I must be a bigger idiot for responding to this...
...then again, I have always been a sucker for those roadside tourist traps.

Thanks for your input guys....only time will tell; that is for sure.

Yes, it looks PSed to me as well...I'm no slouch either you know. Still think it's real no matter how ucky yucky it looks. As I said, I think the size is the reason. Interpolation could do this easily as well (as compression which is obviously involved herein).

And yes I too am tired of D200 photos being posted...and here I found one that was different from the rest.

But------

Let us just keep an open mind about this one. And of course keep on shooting with what you got.

And yes, I do trust my gut now and forever. In short, I apologize for starting something we're all sick of. But I believe there is a good reason as we shall soon see....

Forgot to ask if I may...

I'm not familiar with how the new Nikons look really, as I use the older ones (D1h, N90).

What model does this look PSed from? The only thing that comes close in my mind is the F6, but I don't have one. Anyone with any ideas?? I showed this to a colleague of mine, and whilst he was not certain if it was real, he did say it did not look like a fake based off any Nikon he had ever seen (And he owns a D70 and a D2h).

I am incredibly excited to see anything about the D200, it may be the camera which helps me decide if I will buy into the Nikon system over and above the Canon. It truly is a hard decision to make as both brands are excellent. I value high ergonomics and excellent build quality over tech specs, so Nikon is looking pretty strong in my eyes.

I guess we just have to watch this space.

http://www.nikond200.com/

I'm sure that things will become clearer within a few months!!!
In the meantime we can still keep shooting with our more than capable current digitals

I remember there was a post on this website at one time asking what people thought would be the one feature Nikon toted as being a first in SLR cameras. I dont know where that post has gone but my personal opinion would be integrated WIFI 802.11. Personaly I really hope so.

What model does this look PSed from?

I am not particularly interested in the D200, not at what I think it will actually amount to. Maybe Nikon will prove me wrong in this competitive market however I am willing to wait and couldn't care less about the vaporware.

It does prove an interesting question though. The answers I don't have but what I can tell you is the name plate maybe genuine, the rest of it is hacked up pieces from possibly several cameras. If it's any sort of genuine article from Nikon then it was a joke from someone whom has more time than they really should have drawing a salary from my favorite camera manufacturer.

There are several tell tale signs of image manipulation. Inconsistant acuity to the point where some areas were obviously intentionally blurred. Under close examination, some areas show artifacts consistant with quick masking and sloppy layer blends. Some parts just don't quite fit and some features seem to be less than opaque where in fact they should be completely opaque (pay close attention to the dial to the left of the lens mount.

I could go on but then I could also highlight for you the inconsistancies that are undeniable. In either case, it's clear to me it's not genuine. Further, Nikon would typically have excellent illustrations of anything they are about to release as opposed to something like this.

I just found a larger, better version (also at Photobucket). The chap apparently had two posted; I just didn't see this one until now I guess.

This is getting ridiculous...
There is no official information whatsoever about any replacement of the D100. The whole thing is probably a hoax. Talking to people at the IFA (see my other thread), it could even be that strictly nothing is announced in the coming 6 months... Keep shooting with your favourite camera... If you need/want more technical possibilities for your kind of shooting, go for a D2X, or be patient...
(I am in that category, and in the meantime I am enjoying my D70 every single day and will do for a long time - even if I buy another body when it will be there)

ummm...isn't this a d70 touched up? it has no resemblance whatsoever to your previous manipulations.

They will NOT stick us with a mandatory vertical grip on this camera. That's not the real D200. It won't be meant to compete with the big heavy D2 series.
