p.1 #1 · 70-300 nikkor lense shots

Took this shot 3 feet away and about an hour of time without a tripod. Its manual focus was the only way to capture this.

This was about 15 feet away on manual focus.

Is there a reason why you were using manual focus on the second shot? I can kind of understand the need of manual focus on 1st one( eventhough I really think that you should have been able to use automatic focus on that too )?
Or were you trying to practice manual focus?
regards,

auto focus would not adjust the Bee to be clear. There are too many things that Af wanted to bring in making it very hard to capture. As for my baby shot AF just wasnt cutting it with that lense at that distance.

I have the 70-300 also and i use single area auto focus alot. I found that the closet area focus seemed to be a default setting i could be wrong though.

I found i had the same problem you were not being able to get the subject i wanted in focus so now i use the single area focus and it works great

i agree. with single area autofocus you should be fine. if you prefer manual focus though, good deal.

A lot of folks do prefer manual focus... I know of a few FM'ers who rarely use autofocus at all. As for myself, I do a bit of everything.
