i've got the dryzone 100 and it rocks. only downside is that it is a little small if you're carrying around a lot of junk. on the other hand, id really rather be light if i'm hiking through the woods. i paid $229 for mine.

head to a local camera shop and check them out in person. buying a bag that fits your needs well is next to impossible sight unseen.

Not water "proof" but definitely "resistant" (all weather): Lowe Pro Super Trekker AW. Huge. Very robust. Loads of space and extremly customizeable. Takes a tripod or monopod on the outside. Just got mine last week. About $400 at Adorama, but there's a place in Canada selling them for $275 on eBay (that's where I got mine).

Check out the Lowe Pro Rover AW II. It is available on ebay at a fixed price of ~ $75.
This os a two compartment pack. The top will hold a small laptop + personal gear. The bottom is a camera bag with velcro-adjustable separators. It will easily hold camera bod with medium size lens attached, plus several other lenses and accessories. It has a good waist strap and a very clever system for carrying your tripod. It also has a built in rain hood.

This pack should be no problem as a carry-on bag,

I thinkit's a great deal.
