I currently shoot an aps-h (1.3x) so that transitioning into a m8.2 would at least be similar focal view. Just entertaining the thought..a M9 purchase would basically equip me with like one lense so thats pretty hefty . What would the m8.2 be comparable in high ISO to on say a Canon body? and does it still require the IR filter on every lense?
IR filters are only required if you want fabrics to be black and not purple. Though, I have run into situations where it\'s really messed with skin as well. The IR filters tend to create ghosts at night and colour shifts in the corners on wide angle lenses.
I\'m not too familiar with Canon bodies, but it\'s similar to early Nikon digital bodies before they switched from CCD to CMOS sensors. I don\'t consider anything past ISO 640 on the M8 acceptable and even at 640, noise is evident and it loses quite a bit of dynamic range. There is however, an unintentional upside to the M8, it\'s a very good black and white camera. The extra IR sensitivity seems to bring out a lot of subtle shades of grey when you convert the DNG files to mono.
