I use Aperture 3, and used to use LR1/2, and also tried LR3. I would say that overall they are equivalent, with some strengths on both sides. Neither program is as good as PS at certain things, such as sharpening, selective operations, and so on. Aperture 3 does have a decent Curvus tool which you can find at the top of the Edit tab, under Adjustments.
