Bifurcator...collected the whole lineup of Meyer Optik telephotos and super-telephotos...now I\'m working on the collection of the chrome Meyer Optik lenses...the 4/300 Meyer Optik Orestegor in the center has better resolution and contrast then the 5.5/400 Meyer Optik Telemegors in the rear...but the 5.5/400 has a uniquely pleasing characteristic to the images....the 5.6/500 however is the sharpest of the three and a touch sharper then the 4/300 at infinity and for closeups.
Thanks Krosavcheg.....BTW,those were all shot wide open pointed into the sun,AFAIC the Vivitar S-1 70-210\'s handle flare and ghosting well....shot wide open and at 1600 ISO because it requires high shutter speeds to even come close to stopping the wings.Without flash 1/800 is usually the minimum shutter speed....1/1250 sec. is preferred.
Hummingbirds can be extremely skittish...got tired of trying to get good captures in the gardens....started baiting them in recently...next is to hang some honeysuckle cuttings and use an eyedropper to put sugar water in the blossom to bait them....surrounded by three strobes....BTW to use speedlights,make sure the hummer is tasting the flower or water to make the first shot,then they become used to the flash...if you use flash before or as they approach,they get scared away and don\'t return...
Now that I\'ve got them trained,I\'ve even shot them at dusk or after it\'s dark outside...though I had to train them first to do this...hummers require a considerable amount of food to produce all the energy they expend and keep warm at night...so till they get used to you,don\'t take pictures in the early evening or at night or they get scared away when they need to eat the most.
