To me it makes sense to mount the hood with the button lined up with the red dot like you said but i turn it left to click in place. I can mount it like you say though if i turn the button to the right but it seems awkward for me.
It was nice out yesterday so I cut out of work early to go to a local city park where a Hammond's Flycatcher was reported the previous day.
