Were you able to fix this? Don’t want to bend it too much so looking for advice

I think the problem is the tension spring has come loose from its anchor on one side. Also, is that a dead spider in the new mount?
Dead spider!
Yes, the spring came out. You'll need to place it back like in your image 1.
Is it difficult to get back in? Have a link or explainer on how to do it?
The camera is actually in pretty good shape—but lol on the spider indeed.
If I remember correctly, it's only screwed down on one side, so you should be able to rotate it enough to slip it back under its anchor. Use tweezers and try not to crease it while bending.
Thanks as always Brad. I’ll report back.
Nope. Had to bring it for repair. Which means opening the camera from behind to access the mount. Or $450 for the repair.
That can't be accessed by simply removing the mount??
I was told it cannot.
Removing the mount on an M wouldn't get you any closer to loosening the anchor screw to put the spring back in place (without bending it) and then tightening it down. A loose anchor may have been in the problem in the first place. To repair it right like that, you'd have to open it from the back. Sorry the cheap fix didn't work out.
Yup—I removed the mount but just as you say, no access. The the repair place explained it as you did. Hence the $450.
The seller paid for it—the sent it broken which was not as described. If it were my $450 I would have been more sad.
