Charlotte doing cartwheels

This is awesome. Would appreciate knowing more about how it was made.

Basically, it’s a multi-second long exposure, camera on a tripod, low to the ground, with the OCF on a stand at her height, set on multi-flash. You set the number of flashes and the power you want them at. I used an 16 X 48 inch soft box with diffuser and grid.
After spending a while talking about what I needed her to do, we had a practice session where I counted down, 3-2-1-go! Then she would step in to her double cartwheel, and say “go” when she was starting it. So in other words, I was queuing her and she was then queuing me back. An excerise in timing-coordination with each other. Also, I timed her, and made notes about that, as well as how far she was traveling while cartwheeling.
After the 1st practice session in her back yard, we then met up a few nights later at the tennis court location. After our previous practice session, we were able to start shooting almost right away. The image was shot in near darkness, an hour after sunset. I had the flash modeling light on low, so she had a spacial bearing as she went around. She said the strobe going off like that was very disorienting, so I think the modeling light helped her a lot.
I got several good images to work with, this is one of them. I cleaned it up a bit in Lightroom, removed some background, white reflective paint (court lines) in Photoshop, and here it is.

Still, throughout, we had lots of errors and mishaps, all part of the fun.

Thanks, guys, for the comments. I do appreciate them!
