I am going to search for Northern Lights this coming late fall. The last time I did that some years ago, I used an adapted Canon ultra wide zoom. For what I bought the Tamron lens for, it will perform just fine. In other words, yes, it is a keeper, for sure.
I took a similar shot as this one with a Viltrox 14mm Air 7 months or so ago and it was not wide enough to cover the entire scene and the additional 2mm coverage here did the trick.
