So here's what might be going:

K1 II and KF are not compliant with EU charger regulations and have to be taken off the market
K3 III faces parts sourcing issues / obsolete components

"Asahi man" - who is usually a credible source - said new camera is in-production and will be released between June and September 2026.

My guess is this will be a "boring" refresh of the K3 III and/or the K1 II to solve some of the issues above mentioned above with minimal R&D invest. It's not the Pentax people are waiting for nor the project they keep mentioning, where they wonder how to make DSLRs "cool again". It is a stop-gap to retain some of the existing user base.

Let's see how wrong I was by end of September
