I just checked that Nikon update page. It has a clear warming about not doing this upgrade with any lens other than a Nikkor Z-mount or FTZ/FTZii. What it doesn't address is what sort of lens, if any, must be attached to the FTZ. (All my lenses but one are pre-AI, one is AIS.
So I wonder, exactly what does this upgrade do? More to the point, how essential is it? I have version 1.0. None of the other upgrades listed through 1.10 seem performance-related. This latest one might be.
