Re: Japan Trip Camera/Lens Suggestions?

I just was in Japan for a few weeks during cherry blossom Sakura season. I spent a week in Tokyo and also visited Osaka, Kyoto and Hiroshima.
My advice is to bring the smallest and lightest gear you have. Walking 10,000, 15,000 or more steps a day can make anything feel heavier after several hours.
Stay near a central train station like the Yaminote line. Some of the stations are little cities themselve and if you get out at the wrong exit it can take 15-30 minutes extra. If you have an iPhone get a the suica app and refill as needed from Apple pay. You can also use the suica at konbini and vending machine and some stores.
When you travel from city to city use luggage transfer service to take your luggage it only cost $20-less than $30 and makes train travel so much easier.
Check out some of the wonderful camera shops in Japan. I had so much fun seeing all the old cameras and lenses. Don’t over plan, leave some time for serendipity.
