I now have 3 lenses that require the adapter. I am constantly changing lenses with 3 other Z mounts.
I noticed the same thing you describe, but one of my 2 adapters is just a tiny bit harder to install then the other. The Nikon mount is made out of very hardened material. I suspect if one of these interfaces were to degrade, it likely would be the Techart, but I have no way of proving that. I do not see Techart using harder materials than Nikon, which has been making Prograde solutions for a lot longer. I see it as a low risk, but a legitimate question nevertheless. Over thousands of installations some wear could occur but quite honestly, you will probably have worn out your shutter or upgraded by then. But yes, mounts can be replaced.
As long as it remains hard to install, don't worry (I am not). That could be "normal" but if it starts to become easy, you need to compare another Z lens you own for "slop" on the body without the adapter. Also try to find a second body that is not going to have Techarts installed. Do this study now and compare the feel and lock it in your mind so if questions arise later you will have a "baseline." I suspect Techart deliberately targeted the tight side of the specification to avoid a sloppy fit which would be a bigger problem. The amount of "communication that goes through these devices is substantial.
As a side, these adapters were very instrumental in helping me fill gaps in my lens lineup that I could not fill with Z mount offerings. Truly amazing pieces of gear. The very slip Sony to Nikon Techart is one of the reasons I finally left FTZ's for good, basically selling F mounts and replacing them with upgraded Sony lenses when it made sense to do so. Love the options that these open up.
