Re: love the x100vi, but can't get on with 35mm equivalent. where to go?
I took a lot of heat when the X100vi came out fo r suggesting that, while it is a compelling camera, that its use case was relatively limited and that most users would probably be better served by a small ILC camera instead.
Looks like more folks are coming around to that idea after using the X100vi. for a while.
There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with the concept or execution of the X100vi. It is more about it being a mismatch to the needs/expectations of most photographers. (It is a great option if you truly want to shoot only the “35mm” AOV view, or perhaps as a second. camera to our ILC.)
I expect that a lot of people who rushed to buy the GFX100RF are going to discover something similar as they use it. There was a whole lot of hype about the camera when it came out, and it does well the thing that it does… but it is, again, a mismatch with the needs of most photographers and its use case is limited.
Time will tell.
