I agree with what Karl said. You might want to try under exposing a little and then bring the shadows up to protect the highlights. Two nice finds and it's great to see the common birds.

Thank you Morris. I am keeping Karl's advise on exposure. However, both photos were shot a Exp. -0.3 which is my usual setting. As far as straightening the top of the board walk handrail is concerned, I tried that. However the result is that the birds will now look up. The hand rails are shot at an angle from the right resulting in a perceived downward angle.
