There was recently a temporary tariff carve-out for computers, so — at least for now — that may free up import of the Apple hardware.

No carve out for photogarphy gear though. Expect a ton of turmoil giving forward. Take a look at all of the things you use to make photographs: camera, lenses, batteries, computers, monitors, printers, paper. How many are produced in the US? And, if you can think of some that do, how many of those use only components/materials that are US sourced?

The things that are affected by the tariff wars include all sorts of stuff you would never expect. This morning I read an article about how various hops and other ingredients that American companies use to brew domestic beer come from all over the world. And it isn’t just a matter of plugging in an alternative American agricultural product since the specific formulation of certain types of beer depends on the use of hops from particular regions of the world. Oh, and the stainless steel in the tanks used to brew it? Guess where that comes from.

Shoes? Clothes? Home appliances? Televisions? Car parts? Olive oil? Coffee? Batteries? Gardening tools and supplies?
