Not sure what you mean. There is "matrix" and there is "highlight weighted". AFAIK there's no blend of the two. Tests posted above were done in both settings on both cameras.

The cruz of the issue is that the Z9 rightly chose ISO64 for both modes and adjusted the shutter speed accordingly.

The ZF chose ISO1250 for matrix (which destroyed the highlights) and ISO110 for highlight (which allowed recovery via EC +3.5 in post).
