Actually the Sony warranty does not state that it is non-transferrable. It only states that it has to have been purchased directly from an authorized Sony vendor. "SonyElectronics Inc.(“Sony”) warrants this product against defects in material or workmanship for the time periods and as set forth below when purchased directly from Sony or a Sony Retailer".
It further states that " To obtain warranty service, you must deliver the product, freight prepaid, in either its original packaging
or packaging affording an equal degree of protection to the Sony authorized service facility specified. It is your
responsibility to backup any data, software or other materials you may have stored or preserved on your unit. Itis
likely that such data, software, or other materials will be lost or reformatted during service and Sony will not be
responsible for any such damage or loss. A dated purchase receipt from Sony or a Sony Retailer is required."
Nothing herein states that the bearer of the authorized receipt must be the original buyer. You simply must obtain your receipt or have PayPal intervene on your behalf.

Well, I know. But also I can only feel so upset because Sonys warranties are non transferable anyway, so it’s not like I’m really entitled to warranty coverage. While I am morally opposed to the poor consumer protections allowed by the US, and the absolute absurdity of not warrantying manufacturer defects simply because a camera changes hands, that is the situation....
Actually, the way I read the Sony warranty is that it clearly applies to your situation. It states "... for the original and any subsequent end users ... ". I have attached a copy of their warranty. You have recourse. Read the first sentence. Your U.S. consumer protection is in tact. 😉 The system isn't allowing me to attach the screen shot but you can see the warranty here - https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/W001/W0012324M.pdf
