With Nikon 50mm/f1.2 and Voigtlander 40mm f/1.2. At MFD, Voigtlander has the SA glow, which Nikon just does not, which is quite amazing. On the other hand, the soft glow of Voigtlander is quite loverly, and I do like it. Depending on what one is after for the image, you just choose the different tool. SA quickly disappears as you close down, then it is quite a sharp lens too.
I wonder if the 40/1.2 SA changes with focusing distance ... I mean, is it more present at MFD ?
It does on my copy.. MFD especially with strong light, SA.is the most pronounced. Longer distance, it starts to dissipate, but never seem to completely go away. What I see is that thin veil makes area of focus still not looking crisp like Nikon 50mm f/1.2S does regardless of the distance. Stopped down, It quickly starts to go away. It feels like at 1.8 it is quite decent for that matter, but I need to shoot more to be definitive. Very different kind of lens from 50 f/2 APS.
