Assign Delete as your TOP menu item and then assign the role of the Top Menu Item to your chosen button.

Not understanding your suggestion.

Would you please explain that a little more? Thanks

Go to the menu settings and down to the last heading where you can populate your MY MENU with entries.

Add - Delete from the Review Menu and ensure this is the top menu item

Go to Custom Controls - f2 - and find the button you wish to use then select the role "access top item in MY MENU".

This way Delete will be chosen when you press your selected button.

I have assigned this to my Fn 4 button on the Z9 and Fn 3 button on the Z8.

I am going through the Z8 menu sections, trying to guess where you mean when you wrote
"Go to the menu settings". Specifically, where is "menu settings" ? I think once you clarify that first phrase I will be able to move though the rest of your instructions.

Thank you for your patience and help.

Robert

Just got off the phone with Nikon. At first they said there is no way to assign the "Delete" button to a button on the right side of the Z8's back.

Then I asked him if I could read what you wrote. He agreed to listen. We tried it. I chose the Sub-selector button. Yes, it does now allow me to delete images ..... from a group of smaller thumbnails. Nonetheless, it does work.

Why would you choose the Fn3 button for your "Delete" button on the Z8? It is right next to the trashcan already
