I made a Z8 pre-order this morning but then canceled it shortly after I came to my senses. I think AF, sensor image quality, and EVF are good enough to be competitive and really splitting hairs.

The main issues I see are size (GFX100s territory and really only reasonable for DSLR lovers), battery life (shorter than the A1 by a lot assuming they're all playing the same CIPA games), and Nikon's lens selection (not as good as Sony's from a breadth of selection and overall technical quality except for wildlife telephoto lenses and f1.8 primes IMO).

The only reason I considered it is I think the Z8 would be great as a hiking wildlife photography camera paired with the 400mm f4.5 and 1.4x TC. Outside of that, I think Sony cameras and lenses are as good or better than Nikon's offering in a smaller package.
