Yes, that makes a lot of sense. It would have been more a portrait than a product shot, and the lipstick would have distracted as you say. My brain is into portraits rather than product shots, and therefore I would choose to accentuate the character and mood of the model rather than the objects around her. Thanks for the clarification.

Isn't it fun to direct the viewer's attention with color, light, focus, depth of field, cropping, etc? Often comes down to what are we photographers trying to communicate. Are we delivering a message, a feeling, emotion, a lifestyle. Or are we just taking our viewers to another world. The range of possibilities seem endless. Thanks for the discussion.
