I'm getting the feeling that the B&S board is going to have a few A1's for sale here soon. I'm surprised at the amount of people that have the A1 and are willing to contemplate the RV.

There's been several in the last few weeks....mine was one of them.....it was a hard decision though because I really loved the A1. For what I shoot, the RV just seems a better fit (no sports, no BIF....). The focus bracketing and IBIS were the main factors. I may have made a mistake, wouldn't be the first time (nor the last either ). If so, I'll just get another A1....we'll see pretty soon!

The ability to flip the lcd in vertical orientation is also huge and imho. The new AF object recognition might be a great addition…seen plenty of A1’ers crying for these features in an A1 firmware release.

Yes. We A1'ers might like to have some of that new A7rV AF/AI juice firmware implanted into our A1's but honestly the A1 AF is already outstanding and super duper responsive. I don't think anyone with an A1 is going to miss their shot if not and I don't think there is a yet to be awakened AI chip hiding in the A1.

But as usual, Sony makes it easy enough maybe even prefers 😉 A1'ers to buy the A7rV and "have" the A7rV's latest greatest too right along side their A1's. In this forum it will not be uncommon to see many shooting both the A1 and the A7rV one bought new and the other used or the other way around. Why not.

Personally, I think we will see a few more features and/or improvements to A1 firmware in the not too distant future, but also if we want access to some of those new A7rV features, we just have to but the A7rV. Seems like a tried and true, well orchestrated product and marketing plan if you ask me.
