Depending on the brand. Subal and Seacam often housing will be more expensive. For the last several years, I have been using Nauticam which has a very nifty port system but housing is a bit bigger and is quite a bit more affordable.
However, Nauticam upsetted me quite a bit when Z7 ii came out, they refused to offer modification to the housing (basically you need slight adjustment as everything was about 1-2 mm off ) and made me buy the whole housing again. Other brands do offer modification kits. At least now Isotta with shinny red housing is giving Nauticam a run for its money but have the old Sea and Sea port system which I dont like as much.
Knock on wood, after 800 dives, I only had 2 minor flood, both through Nikonos port for strobe connection where only a couple of drop of seawater leaked into the housing but fried the strobe connection on both trips. At least now aday, we use optical connection to trigger underwater strobe so that is one less point of entry and vaccuum system does make everything feels a bit more secure.
