A photo I took of my friend Gracie a few days ago when we took a group day trip with some friends to Rooster Rock, a swimming area on the Columbia River near Portland Oregon. The smoke from the wild fires in other areas of the state is starting to make it's way into the horizon near Portland, which has a very interesting effect on the lighting, especially around sunset and sunrise (to clarify, the air quality index was still rated at a 10 on this particular day, so no one was putting themselves at risk by being outside). This is one of my favorite shots from the day, taken just before the sun went down and just before the mosquitos started eating us alive. Unfortunately I think this might be our last river trip of the Summer because the smoke from the wild fires is getting thicker every day, causing the air quality index to rise quite a bit each day as well.
