Astro looks good there. Will pre-order—I’ve been waiting for this lens for years.
Albert Dros is a fabulous photographer. I love his work and this set of photos is a great showcase for the lens. He is also a Sony artisan, so we can't expect anything negative to be said. I still see a bit of coma in the corners of the wide open shot with the windmill. It isn't terrible, but it is certainly there. It will be up to individual users to decide whether it bothers them.
Yes, I remember reading his Sony 20/1.8 review, which was glowing. I specifically remember the coma was a little worse in the corners when I tested the lens with some mild bat wings. He also stated the the bokeh was beautiful and soft. I found it to be good, cleanly rendered but a bit higher contrast. Overall though, I think he’s quite a good reviewer and photographer, especially considering he is an ambassador for Sony. The all-time worst was when Chad’s Wadsworth was trying to push the FE 35/1.8 as the new RX1 😂
As you know, lenses aren’t perfect. I think this new GM is quite good overall compared to the field from what I have seen and size/price/specs, coma included.
