I think a Sony GM 50 1.2 is to quiet the naysayers who keep saying Canon’s glass is better because it’s 1.2 (a statement I disagree with).

All I wanted was a 50/1.4 GM at 500 grams and $1,300. This 1.2 will be bigger and more expensive which means a likely no buy. I’ll wait and see...

yeah, I would personally have preferred a smaller, lighter, and even better version of the ZA1.4
But this lens probably makes more commercial sense, and I'm sure plenty will prefer it.

As one who owns just about all of the Sony GM lenses and some G’s, sorry but the Canon RF prime glass is better than Sony’s...I own an EOS R just so I can use their RF glass....I rent mostlY, but do own the “Magical” RF 50 1.2

I disagree, and I’ve shot with most of it.

Since you have both types of glass let’s see some comparisons to better illustrate your point.

Clearly just your opinion and and not fact...at the end of the day, it’s what my eyes perceives and my clients. And owning both the top end Sony 50 mm and the Canon RF, the Canon is the superior lens all the way around. I am not a fanboy for any company....though I have a fortune invested in Sony glass and bodies.

As for comparisons. Sure, I have a couple of weddings coming up in the next couple of weeks....I’ll bring the Canon along next shoot it alongside the Sony. I don’t have any of the same subject matter right now to compare....
