Phillip Reeve wroteVery interesting, thanks for the work and I look forward to the reveal
You’re welcome—you of all people know what a pain these are to put together! Maybe I’ll hold on the reveal till you give your preferences
A lot of pain indeed.

Bokeh at 0.6 meters: 5, 4 (good), the rest pretty busy with no clear order
Bokeh/background at 1.2 meters: 5,1, the rest in no particular order
Flare: 4, 5, the rest in no particular order
Bokeh and transition at f2 at 10-12 feet: 1, 4, 5 are mostly smooth, the rest a little nervous but not a big difference overall
F8 with tree (focal point) 12 feet away: 1 and 3 with foreground in focus and background out of focus towards the corners. I prefer the others.
Transition Zone: 3 and 6 ahead, the rest in no particular order

For my preference I would probably weight the different scenes 1: 15%, 2: 45%, 3: 15%, 4: 5%, 5: 10%, 6: 10%

I hope the Sigma 2/35 comes out well, I just bought one yesterday on David's recommendation
Well, based on one scene in which it did really well against bokeh famous competition, and my report about a few more! More testing to do, though it is super promising, modulo a little swirl and cats eyes in some scenes.
Are you finding your copy to vignette noticeably? More than you’d expect for lens of this class?

Or the whole image just feels a little bit darker than it should for an F2
Yes huge vignetting despite only average optical vignetting. It isn’t that sudden vignetting either...it spreads across much of the frame. Correctable and it doesn’t worry me too much, presumably one of the interesting trade offs. What is super surprising is that the *amount* of blur at f2 seems very high, as though it’s faster than sone f2 35s, and yet the vignetting....

I noticed both as well, the whole image is dark with high degrees of vignetting outside the center of the frame though, as you say, it is not abrupt. Shooting these multiple lenses on a tripod, the sigma is always darker by about a half stop. Interestingly, the RX1 vignettes less than the ILC lenses so there’s about a stop difference between the 35i and RX1 even though they are both the same focal length and f-stop technically. I guess that’s why some measure t-stops as well.

It is a bummer for astro. And the 35i is very well corrected for coma too.

It’s funny you say that, I feel like depending on the distance or something I either get more depth of field or less DOG than I should. It’s a little bit confusing. I think I will shoot it against the RX1 just watch the focus fall off.
