Re: R5/R6 - Battery / Coupler / Charging in the field - lessons & questions
I have a slightly different experience with batteries in the R5. Was doing wild life and birds on safari. I used the high capacity new Canon battery, The older LP n6 (from 7D M2 and 5D M4) and a Hahnel high capacity battery. I used the 600 F4 Series 2 with or without 1.4 converter and the 100-400 series 2. Screen on camera used, camera in Econo.
On all batteries at least 1200 shots per charge. On all batteries, high speed until plus minus 60% capacity. No problem with the generic battery, no funny messages. Did not use a grip. I also got a Hahnel Usb charger-charges from any Usb port, takes 2 batteries and charged all 3 types I am using. Charging the camera from a car 12 volt cigarette point via the Usb c cable requires a high output charger, not the normal cell phone charger.
On safari I use an inverter in my vehicle for the 220 Volt Canon charger or a portable 12 volt battery and the Usb charger. Direct charging of the camera via Usb C where we are on game drives not possible, off road, bad roads.
Regards,
Ben
