Well I never said the 35 1.8 has great bokeh. Actually far from it. Typical 1.8 lens I have said this many times . Sharp as hell with fast focusing but look is modern day with regard. to bokeh and look of the lens. You can throw in the 35,55,85 all 1.8 glass as they follow that same pattern. I’ve always disliked the 55mm. My problem was the 85 GM AF was horrid. It almost cost me a huge client in the studio. I had to buy the Sony 85 1.8 for the speed. This maybe could be the answer . Good look with some AFspeed

Did u look at the Sony 85mm f1.8 bokeh in detail? I have that lens but I never took a detailed look at it. I don’t see anything bad with it’s bokeh through normal usage.
Maybe it’s the dof of 85mm vs 35/40mm that makes transitional bokeh stand out more on the 35mm? I saw bokeh I did not like on the sigma 40mm soon after using it.
But I am much more forgiving on a cheap, Light lens like the 85mm f1.8 vs a bazooka like the sigma 40mm.

I’ve owned it several times. I’m not forgiving at all I have tested hundreds of lenses in every brand. I’m a working Pro. Been doing this for decades.

35 1.8 and Batis 85 test. I have tons of tests on the forum. Do a search
