It is a very valid case. When I shoot an NBA game, my cameras, even with sleep activated, are rarely ever off. I am always taking a shot of a fan here, or a player there, etc. Even during a play review by the officials, I am shooting players and crowd. Then perhaps after a period of time, as the quarter nears the end, I would like a few videos of action to accommodate my stills for the office. I can do video, but not 4k slo mo, which is a cool effect to give the marketing group to edit.
So that is just one example of where shooting stills and having the camera on for an extended time eats into your higher end video modes.
