Re: EOS-R5....will it live up to the hype?

It's hard to say what demand would be in July. Things won't be close to what they were just a month ago. Nobody knows what sort of immunity one has, and for how long, after recovering from COVID-19. Anyone who hasn't yet been infected will still be vulnerable. There won't be any vaccine until mid to late 2021, etc.. I can't imagine there will be lots of travel until after a working vaccine is available.

Last but not least, it's looking like Japan is headed for some serious problems, having not taken adequate steps to mitigate spread of COVID-19 early on. Just yesterday the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo warned Americans of a "significant increase" in the number of coronavirus infections in Japan, and urged them to leave the country now unless they plan to stay indefinitely. Canon being able to source parts, or even being able to produce cameras in the near term, is questionable.

Personally, I planned to buy a new camera (not Canon) this summer. The camera is available and I can still afford it, but my plans to buy anything photographic are on hold indefinitely. I don't see any near term opportunities to use a camera, and if one comes up between now and late 2021 I can use what I've got.
