Re: Kolari UT Mod portrait distance or bokeh examples?

Hi, I've been doing lots of tests since I've left Leica (3 years using M9 and M10) to be sure what are going to be the consequences.... focusing at short distances and infinity. Today I've made this test to post it here...

Focus distance was about 5 meters. In the center of the image (pinecone).
This is the general view (taken with the 50mm):

The test is with the Sony A7II Kolari UT (converted in Europe) and the stock Sony A7RIII. I have converted to JPG and down sampled to 24MP the files from the A7RIII with Lightroom defaults to match the A7II resolution.
My A7II UT has about 0.4mm total sensor stack.

Here is the upper right corner with Summilux 50mm ASPH wide open (stock left, Kolari right):

My conclusion is that if you do portraits just forget about Leica cameras or modding your Sony, there is no practical difference between those cameras. I had the same conclusion when I tested stock Sony vs Leica M10. Also just to mention it... performance in the corners at infinite is even better in the Kolari sony than in the leica body.
