Re: Pre-order Now! Sony FE 16-35/2.8 GM and FE 12-24/4 G
I'm headed out of town for a few days vacation and a family get together. So I won't have any time for putting together crops of my test shots. I spent another couple of hours shooting a different scene with infinity shots at various apertures for the 16-35 GM and 12-24 G. I went through them all and my overall impression is that both of these zooms are very impressive in terms of sharpness levels from center to the edges and even in the extreme corners. There is no smearing at all at any aperture with either lens. However, they are so close in IQ at the 16mm to 24mm range that I'm thinking that I may be better off with just the 12-24 G. I don't really need f/2.8 in the 16-24 range other then for the occasional astro work and I still have my Loxia 21 f/2.8 and an old Rokinon 14 f/2.8 lens. I would really like to see if one of these new fast 14mm or 15mm prime lenses coming out soon would even be a better astro option then the the zoom. Lots to think about but a good problem to have. It wasn't that long ago we had no good native wide lens options to consider.
