It is interesting to compare the DR response shapes of the older gen 7DII / 6D / 5DIII sensors with the newer gen 80D / 5D4 / 1DXII sensors. The newer gen sensors have a much more linear response curve - obviously Canon have some new secret sauce to boost the low ISO performance.
At risk of being labelled a "complainer" here, i actually don't think it is unreasonable to expect the newest gen sensor tech in what is a reasonably premium new camera body. Once an actual production body gets to the DXO guys i expect we will learn more conclusively.
