I've got some decent technical skills, but do you have a link with some basic instructions/tips I could follow?
Here are some tips (thanx akmtshun) :
1a. Unpack the firmware file (i.e. the one that you can download from Sony's official website) by using fwtool to obtain one important file - config.yaml.
1b. Also, unzip the firmware file by using 7zip.
2. Edit the firmware version no. in config.yaml, such that it exceeds one (v3.3) shown on my device. Then, save it.
3. Pack config.yaml together with the files extracted during (1a) by using fwtool.
4. Copy the modified firmware file (in .dat format) created during (3) and place it under the folder of 1b.
5. Run the updater exe in the folder of (1b) in order to load the modified firmware over the device.
6. Test.
