I already ordered this lens. I'm looking for one thing AF speed. Going to be more my studio lens. I'll get a look lens in 135 to replace my GM. I might even buy back the 50 1.4 FE. I'm sad I sold my GM 85 as I loved it but the stop down focusing and AF speed was hurting me

At what f/stop on the 85GM did you find that it became an issue to focus reasonably quickly?
I've never used the lens stopped down beyond f/2 except for a rare cityscape in sunlight, but I know what you mean with the hunting.

I just bought back the 85GM (having sold it in the Fall) on the latest Sony deals but the 50/1.4 is really fantastic. Now that the 100STF and Batis 135 are imminent, I'll revisit my choice amongst the 3 over the next several months.

You pointed out early on that the STF wasn't for you and my interest waned b/c of the high T-stop (particularly because of the hunting issues I know are there on the 85 and I can't see how the STF would be any better).

I'm also concerned that the Batis 135 may suffer the same swirly/cat's eye bokeh that I didn't care for on the Batis 85 - so, the 85GM has a reasonable chance of sticking around, but I'm open to alternative in other focal lengths for now.

For my purposes, I probably only need 1 prime longer than 50mm these days - but i'd like it to be something special.

It's certainly going to be a lot of fun picking - they're all great choices in their own way!
