I am trying two other adapters. Kipon and Pixco.
($145 and $28 respectively)
Should have the Kipon in a couple days. If it does not work, I will try removing that shim.
I don't think it's a lens issue. I bought one brand new never used in box.

With a nameless cheap adapter I was able to focus well past infinity with a Biogon-G 28 and a 1m. filter and so did HaruhikoT. It really surprises me that Fred can't reach infinity with a weaker filter. That Fotodiox adapter must be out of specifications..Without a filter you should be able to focus past infinity by a fair margin because Contax G lenses don't have a hard stop at the infinity mark.

All Pixco adapters I have ever used have been the worst.
Nikon-G -> Leica-M even had a light leak...
So my mones for a too short adapter is on the Pixco :-)
