Not much difference, as the black spacer fills the gap between the outer aluminium \"face\" and the lower tensioning plate, up to the level of the top of the pillars, so the outer plate rests both on the pillars and the spacer. the plastic spacer has holes so that it sits at the same level with the top of the\"pillars\" which pass through it.
