Peter, it is not about competition but it is more about sharing our passion for capturing images. I admire folks here that can create artistically superb images out of seemingly simple objects/conditions and/or at seemingly mundane location.
I am retired and what do retirees do? They travel and I happen to combine my travel with my passion in photography. Yes, sometimes I brave adverse conditions in an attempt to create somewhat different look of my images. And, I admit that I got lucky a few times in terms of weather or being able to capture certain phenomena. But still, it is our passion that counts! Cheers!
