The Artistic Dancing Heron & Eagles ---- (11)
Hello Photo Friends
On Veteran’s Day, I went to see the eagles. I talked to some old friends and met some new friends, which is always fun. But overall, it was not a good day.
We got there before 7:30 AM but parking was full. There were a few spots far as you entered and a few elsewhere but it was pretty full. That’s crazy. We were lucky to find a spot when someone was pulling out. Interestingly enough, it was not really packed with photographers so I don’t understand it. By the middle of the day, there were no spots
People ignored the handicapped parking signs and got ticketed. Another parked up on the curb and got a ticket. So far warning, if you go on the weekend, get there BEFORE dawn and if you park illegally, expect a ticket.
The difference I see from this year to previous years is that there was not lots of big lenses out but a lot of people walking around with pocket cameras. My hub says there are just too many people. It’s obviously a place open to the public but being forced to get there before dawn is becoming tedious. I didn’t understand why parking was so full but not all that many big lenses out but I think it’s the people walking around with iPhones and point and shoot cameras.
Compared to previous years, the number of birds is way down. I know it’s not cold out. Even I had to take off my hand warmers! On the drive home, it was 70 degrees! That’s crazy. Regardless, compared to the past that I have seen there is really few eagles there <sigh>! Maybe they will show up as a Polar Vortex shows up but then I will need a half dozen hand warmers!
You can’t do anything about the weather. It was supposed to be partly cloudy. Instead it was foggy. Anyone who has been here knows the fog at dawn tends to burn off by mid-morning. Not today. It did leave about 1 – 1:30 PM leaving little time before losing the light.
Lots of fog with a long lens is not a good combination. As you all know, once you get out over 1,000 mm, the junk in the air just gets magnified making things worse . It can be bad on clear days. On foggy days it’s just ridiculous. I know you can make some adjustments in post but junk is junk and the longer you are, the more junk gets blown up. So not a good day. Enough in my soup.
Oh, and there was a lot trash floating down the river, lots of logs and junk. What’s with that?
Too many people, no place to park, few eagles, soupy skies, wasted hand warmers, poor me … So I got what I got.

This is to give some perspective of distance and soupy skies. Those are blurry pigeons in the background. Despite the distance, the lack of detail in the eagle is one reason I hate fog.

Pix 2
This photo can give you a prospective of how far away the Eagles are, and this is cropped quite a bit.

A big crop on all my three Herons captures!
I think they came out like a painting. But no photoshop filters were used. I don’t even own photoshop.

I just love showing off to you all here!

See you all later! I enjoyed dancing for you all!

Cormorants can also have fun at The Pond splashing about! You know things are slow when the photographers are taking pictures of Cormorants.

My last three captures were taken on clear days!
