Adam, actually, I will recommended sonnar highly. I sold it but if I can sell my lux at $3800, I will keep sonnar. (I don\'t want more loss on selling things.) My opinion is at f1.5, if you take portrait, the difference between it and lux is hardly noticeable given DOF and focus error. Bokeh might suit my need better. I am not the only one complain 50lux\'s \'smooth\' bokeh I guess Now, the thing is what aperture it optimize at? I prefer at f2.8. I will compensate the focus at f1.5 with 2M. It is pretty easy, just practice a little. Above 2M, most likely, you don\'t need compensation. if further, it will be within your focus error for RF focusing and DOF will cover FS. You need your shot sharp slow down the lens, you don\'t need worry FS anymore.
Edward, there is no comparison between it and Planar at WO within 2M. Sonnar has no hazy in center. Infinity might be close.
Haha, I was shooting something the other day with the 50lux and I was thinking that the bokeh would be more interesting if it were brush-stroke in rendering like the sonnar, and I decided to just order one on a whim.. Now I\'m annoyed that I did, as I remember why I sold mine off
That and I\'ve gotten so use to the focusing tab on the 50lux, that I no longer like the bump on the ZM (use to love the ZM bump). Oh and the f/stop ring is not in half steps...
In all fairness it\'s been raining here quite a bit. So I\'ll give myself a bit more time with the lens before I sell it off.
I have lots of lenses now, but I\'m slowly starting to think that I could get away with just having the 50lux and 35cron or 28cron.. I think I buy and sell lenses because I\'m bored/restless with the little free time I have.
Anyway, I think I\'m going to keep the Sonnar at least until my next trip, whenever that is.
