You got a very lovely capture here, Conrad - sweet light, a BG to die for and beautiful subject.
If I have something more to ask for, I wish the bird is larger in the frame and the detail a notch sharper. Nonetheless, if this were my capture, it will end up without doubt in my \"keepers\" folder.
I did a quick processing on the RAW file while sipping my morning coffee.
1. Screen shots of relevant ACR settings
2. Unedited 100% crop straight from ACR
3. Edited 100% crop (there is still some noise, but this level doesn\'t bother me anymore)
4. Edited and resized for web-display (no cloning of any element was done)
Looking at your RAW file, your 7D is not a dud, Conrad. It has the same noise characteristics as mine and the other 5 or so 7Ds that I\'ve shot.
