No problems with my 27" i7 iMac w/ 12GB of RAM. The slowest part is LR3 converting to TIFF for import into SEP2.
I'd like more detailed workflow info, but maybe I just haven't found it on the Nik sight (only downloaded last night). Is there any downside to further adjustments after SEP2, back in CS5/LR3 (sharpening/curves/etc.)? Does the TIFF resolution (default 240) matter when it comes time to resize for print (I use Perfect Resize or LR3 to resize to 360DPI for Epson printers)?
I'm finding that on some images, I can do as well or better in LR3, but on others (usually flatter), SEP2 works much better. I've got 14 more days to decide if it's worth $200 (actually $165-70, there are coupon codes all over for Nik stuff).
One thing on borders - I like the thin 'filed enlarger' style for online display, but they wind up cropping out a significant portion of the image. Not sure why they couldn't be added to the outside of the image instead. (And there's some irony as well, since when I was in school we printed that way to show our 'no-cropping purity'... these digital borders that look the same automatically crop.)

Ahhh... I see your point now. Here's what I think is going on: The European price includes VAT (so the price of the product itself is actually *lower*).
Absolutely wrong.
The VAT in France is 19,6%. If I apply this VAT rate to the upgrade price for SEP 2 ($US 99.95), this yields $US 119.5, that is, 85.4 euros. The european pricing for this upgrade is 99.95 euros. So the markup of the french (european) reseller is still about 17% with no added value from their side because its an electronic distribution from the US anyway.
This pricing policy is merely discriminating. Period.
PS: If we don't take VAT into account, this clearly means that for Nik Software, 1 USD = 1 euro. It's time to become conscious that the USD is no longer as strong as it was : 1 euro = 1.4 USD.

Bob - you absolutely qualify for a free update (and thanks for your business!).
If you purchased a box from Nik or from a reseller, please make sure you have registered at our site so we have your email address tied to the version 1.0 product key. If you purchased electronically from us, you would have already received an email - they were all sent out by the end of the day on Friday with the exception I'm told of a few dozen where there were slight problems in the auto-script; those are being handled manually.
If you have to register, it may take a few days for the script to "catch you," so if you're in a hurry please don't hesitate to give us a call.
Thanks again and best of luck with your photography! Kevin...Show more →
I have an email from NIK Customer Relations @ Dino Danner stating that I was on NIK's mailing list for this upgrade. I have the "Complete Collection"(bought this past 2010 Christmas) PLUS 2 versions of Dfine2.0 and Viveza2 bought before the Christmas2010 huge "Collection" sale.
I have heard nothing from NIK concerning the link to provide the "qualified" customers their upgrade to Pro2.
And I am still awaiting the "fix" for the loss of the icons in the "Arrange Documents" window in CS4/5. This has been about 4 months now.

Dan - PM your email address to me. You should have gotten it already, that is true. We have an auto-script that runs daily so you should have been picked up by that a long time ago.

Are you the person who asked this question 8 days ago on "GetSatisfaction.com?" Our senior tech rep Shane M. answered it there. Looks like it's a known issue with CS4 only. Shane provided a workaround.

Thanks, Kevin (from Nik)
Kevin,
Shane provided me with the link for upgrade. SEFX Pro2 is up and is wonderful so far.
However I am not the person on "GS.com" Shane's "workaround" can you link me up to it?.
Thanks a million and glad to have you and a NIK Rep on site.
Dan
I have had a response from Nik. Initial tests show the demo will run properly as a standalone, but if I try it from Photoshop it crashes when I try to process. I have switched off GPU but not sure what else to try. Only got four days left of demo to try and get it working!
The issue predates SEFX Pro2.
It has been happening on my Windows XP computer running ONLY Dfine2.0 and Viveza2.
It also is happening on my new Windows7 running the "Complete Collection."
My case number is December 2010 and SEFX Pro2 wasnt even out then.
Thanks Kevin!

take it up with your boss if you aren't getting paid enough, and your elected officials if you don't like your national taxing system, i suppose.
You'd be an incredibly effective international salesman. Ever heard of purchasing power? Or do you mean that anyone with a yearly salary of 100.000 Algerian Dinar should be able to get the software for 199 Dinar (which equates to US$2.78)?
