I saw that on your blog! I am very curious to read more about your impressions of the ZF35! Especially compared to the 35/2 and 50/1.4.
I'll take it for a spin tomorrow, and we'll see what comes up. So far I think it's optically the perfect compromise between the characters of the 35/2 and the 50/1.4.

did you sell your leica lenses and nex for it?
Yes I did, but I still have the Summarit 35/2.5, which I intend to sell as well.

I don't have a contax bellows. Just tubes. It's nice on tubes up until about 4x magnification before is starts looking a little funky.
And sure, I can keep it for ya if you'd like NP. Whenever you're ready just link me to this page so I don't forget and raise my prices on ya.
Haha, okay. Well, I would say, don't hang on to it if you have any reason to sell, but I will certainly ask you about it when I get some money again. Oh, in what shape is it?

That's about 530 Euro, plus 26.7% VAT and customs fees. I need to save a little. Do you figure you'll keep it for a bit? Have you tried it on the Contax bellows?
At this point selling off my Contax 645 system probably makes sense. I don't use it so much, but have resisted selling it due to the quality of the lenses. However, the 35/3.5 is equivalent to the ZF21 and the 120/4 is similar to the 100/2.8, so I figure I have more or less replaced it at that point.

How would describe the 35/2 - in your words?
Brutal, biting and absolutely unforgiving. The very high local contrast makes everything "pop", but at the price of harsh bokeh in some situations (everything except closeups or stopped down a fair bit). The focus throw is very short and it's really, really difficult to focus beyond ~2-3 meters.
My impressions of the 35/1.4 is quite different. It gives more detail stopped down but not the same local contrast. The bokeh is much nicer and stays smooth at distance, just like the 50/1.4 Planar, and I think it will suit me perfect because of that. No images worth sharing yet though.

Nice. I'm looking forward to your samples with it. The work you posted with the 50 was a revelation to me. It made me look at the lens in a different way, and greatly increased my satisfaction with the results.

Just bought a good ol' D700 again... And a new ZF 35/1.4!
The camera is just as good as last time, while the lens is pure magic.
Ha! That makes me feel a little bit better for not having tried to switch to a NEX system yet (sticking to my 5D+Contax kit).
Guess I'll keep waiting till a mirroless FF camera comes out.

Do you have any side by side comparison shots that show the 35/1.4 renders more detail stopped down than 35/2.
I did not see that in Lloyd Chamber's comparison shots and did not see it in my comparison shots when I had bd if access to the 35/1.4 ZE. The uncorrected SA design renders smooth Softar like bokeh with slow focus transition to OOF.
Better bokeh than 50/1,4 which can be harsh at times if not close enough to support eject asunder harsher lighting.
Also ZE 35/1.4 is one of the toughest Zeiss lenses to MF because of the S.A. when T wide open apertures.

I tend to agree. However, there are times I really miss the 35/2 because of its local contrast character. In certain situations, I think I prefer the 35/2.

Congrats, I so want the G's, and to get them converted, though it is expensive to convert.

That was the last Nikkor I picked up, it's a good one.
