I think you'll like it. It's not horrible. It's actually pretty comparable to the 500 wide open versus f/5.6.
in that case it should be wonderful
(edit) I had a look at your comparison, it should be good indeed
I don't know about the corners, though. I've never tried to use it for anything where the corners matter.
Very little of what I shoot do the comers matter, that is what macro lenses are for IMHO, as long as the subjects eyes or the bits I want to be sharp are sharp everything else can fade off to obscurity for all I care.
Thanks for the answers Freak, I should see the lens on Monday they tell me.

Holy Cow, the nFD 300 2.8 lens showed up today, I was not expecting it until Monday. It is in really nice shape. Mounted on my Fuji X-E1 it is like a 420mm equivalent. I took a few tests shots in wicked low light resting on a window frame @3200iso 1/30 sec f/2.8 and they look real good. with proper shutter speed this thing is gonna rock! I will be a meetings/ classes all weekend and will have no time to really shoot. But judging from tonight's messing around I have a winner.
I'll try & get a picture of it up over the weekend

Another Flektogon MC 35/2.4 and Sonnar 135/3.5.Both in excellent conditiions and for a song plus 3 kg of other noname, but good and solid lenses with different mounts.
What an incredibly small lens! I didn't realize it was this small, and I thought the 40/1.4 Nokton was smaller. Well, the 15 is shorter but wider.
Since I got it late in the evening, I didn't get to do much other than do some test shots at the store and at home. But tinkering around with the lens profiles, I find 28/2.8 ASPH profile gives the best results in terms of corner color shift.

A lightly-used (preowned) 30mm Sigma DN f/2.8 "Art" lens in the micro 4/3 mount for my Lumix GX7.
And, so far, it's more than living up to the positive hype for being a great - and inexpensive - lens with impressive IQ and superior bokeh. Plus it's quite small and lightweight. And the smooth metal focusing ring actually works surprisingly well.

Two 35s, a back-up Lux-M and a CV 35/1.2 vII. I'm hoping the Voigtlander will pair up nicely with the FD 85L for night shooting.
If it does, then it's probably time to consider selling the a99 and some of the R's, since I say that's why I'm hanging on to them even though the past few times I've gone out at night it's been the a7 and 85L that's come along.

My Distagon 28/2.8 (MM) arrived a couple of hours ago - very excited and really happy with the shape it's in, considering the price and the '8' grade from B&H.

I just got a Voigtlander APO-Lanthar SLii 90mm f/3.5, followed quickly by
CZJ 135mm f/3.5 yesterday, for use on 5Dii and soon the A7r.
So, these ALMOST complete the set for landscape/travel I've had for a long long time, which includes ZE 21/2.8 or Oly 21/3.5 depending if size/weight is the priority, C/Y 28/2.8, C/Y 50/1.7, C/Y 85/2.8 or the above APO-Lanthar 90 depending on whether close focus/auto aperture is desired, and the CZJ 135.
It's not alt, but I always have the Canon 40mm Pancake for something AF.
I'm still looking for a 17ish that is compact, affordable and very good to the corners. I have the Tokina 17/3.5 AT-X Aspherical, which is OK except for CA that is sometimes near incorrectable. I'm getting the new Canon 16-35 f/4 ASAP, but that is clearly not in the spirit of this kit.
I did not warm up to the Pentax-M 135 f/3.5 I got 2 weeks back, partly due to the long MFD so that will move along.

I don't believe either of these lenses were ever made in an MC version.
They can often be found with the later naming convention and black ring, but none that I have seen have actually been multicoated.
This is because they are rare ;-).
Why would Olympus put the "MC" marking on it?
This is the case with my 200/5. I'm 100% sure it is multicoated as it has that typical green-violet reflection as seen on most other modern multicoated lenses. There are some reports online about it being only sold in Japan and in very limited quantities (2000pcs) before it was discontinued.
I'm a bit less sure about the 135/3.5 - it has violet+orange reflections. I also have an earlier SC version which I lent out to a friend but will compare how they behave when I have both back with me. I think I remember it having a blueish coating.
