The person who purchases it will receive that information as I think it may be possible to cause trouble to a retailer in Japan who doesn't or forgets to stamp the warrantee card. It was originally purchased about 4 moths ago tho.

It comes with a Japanese store receipt and an international (world) warrantee card. When these are combined Nikon deems this an "Official Import Product" (Nikon's terminology) and will honor the warranty locally in your area - wherever you are. This is their written policy BTW.

This is absolutely correct. I spoke with Nikon USA when shopping for my D700 and that was exactly what they stated.
